　　一场交通变乱，让杰西卡（莎拉·米歇尔·盖拉 Sarah Michelle Gellar 饰）的丈夫瑞恩（迈克尔·兰德斯 Michael Landes 饰）和小叔子瑞曼（李·佩斯 Lee Pace 饰）堕入昏迷，并被奉告又酿成动物人的危险。但在数月后瑞曼先醒了过来，这使杰西卡看到了丈夫也康复如初的一线希望。而瑞曼竟对杰西卡说，他就是丈夫瑞恩。起头杰西卡并没有相信，但瑞曼的处事方式越来越像瑞曼，并说了很只要瑞恩才晓得的奥秘。杰西卡堕入了深深的冲突当中：一方面她难以接管和灵魂的转移；另一方面，她又感遭到了丈夫的气味和模糊的幸运。似乎如同中毒一般不成救药的恋爱就要起头了。而与此同时，医院内的瑞恩似乎有了苏醒的迹象……
