　　　　M（鲁妮·玛拉 Rooney Mara 饰）和C（卡西·阿弗莱克 Casey Affleck 饰）是一对非常恩爱的情人，在一场车祸中，C不幸死去，将心碎欲绝的M孤零零的留在这个天下当中。但是，C却并没有实在的分开，他仍然以灵魂的形式留在他和M一路生活过的那幢屋子里，留在M的身旁，沉默而又深情的看着他生前的情人的一举一动。                                                                    　　C的分开让M堕入了失望和疾苦当中，她抽泣、烦闷、自闭，恍如生活在真空里。M决议从屋子里搬进来，可是C没法分开，他只能继续的期待着期待着，支持着C的，是M已经留在墙缝里的一张字条。新的住客来了又走，无穷的时候永久的流逝着，某日，拆迁队将C地点的屋子撤除了，一片废墟当中，C发现，本来被困在无尽的期待中的，并非只要他一个。
