　　上海，1938-1941。当天下大战在欧洲地域接近爆发之际，遭纳粹迫害的犹太人流亡至外洋的机遇也越见迷茫。那时，惟有还在中国的上海，无需任何文件证实便可让外藉人士迁入，於是，有跨越两万名犹太人，一波波地涌入上海。从阔别烽火苛虐的「小维也纳」，到如集合营般拥堵脏乱的外来居民区。这群犹太人的外洋亡命生活，与这个异国城市的命运，也是以有了密不成份的关连。
　　
　　本片藉由四位在上海倖晚於难的犹太人报告亲身遭受，佐以一些不曾面世的珍贵照片与记载影片，以及薇婷与史托佛，这两个那时在上海经营贸易与出书的犹太人，所留下来的函件与刑物，垂建出这群犹太人的上海记忆。不管是透过纯真的访谈记载，亦或是将笔墨转为画外音配合相关的影象显现，都彷佛是要率领着观眾进入这些人物的脑国内，去见证他们在那残缺光阴中的艰辛与无法。
　　
　　本片配乐极为出色，应用了传统的犹太及中国的乐器与乐风，也穿插着西方古典音乐或爵士乐的片断，营建出上海地理与人文上怪异的複杂空气，让人彷彿真的置身於三、四~年月的黄埔江畔。
