　　在五十年月中期的美国阿拉巴马州，黑人罗莎派克丝由于拒绝乘坐在公共巴士上的黑人区，激发了反种族轻视的抗议行动，马丁路德．金策动当地黑人拒坐巴士入城。胡比．戈德堡饰演西塞．斯派西克家里的女佣，她为了支持抗议行动而宁顾天天步行九千米上班。白种女仆人发现此事后，诡计影响她的贩子老公采纳行动改良黑白隔离的现状，但没有获得好心的回应，因而自动开车接送加入示威的黑人妇女。
