　　道格（西恩·威廉·斯科特 Seann William Scott 饰）是一个30岁的汉子，年龄的增加让压在他肩头的负担越来越重，妻子想要住进大屋子的渴望也成为了他辛苦工作的动力。对于自己司理助理的职位，道格很不满足，而就在他诡计改变的时辰，机遇来了。司理筹算再开一间连锁超市，而一向矜矜业业的道格则成为了超市司理的不贰人选，但是，就在这个节骨眼上，一个名叫理查德（约翰·C·赖利 John C. Reilly 饰）的汉子的出现却打破了道格的美梦。
　　作为合作对手，道格和理查德之间的关系非常严重。前者希望可以实现妻子的愿望，尔后者则期望着靠获得司理的职位挽回对自己意气消沉的妻子。面临自己的理想，两个汉子都立誓绝不退却，一场剧烈的争斗在概况和蔼的氛围下悄悄的展开了。
