　　千古第一淫妇潘金莲（王祖贤饰）身首异处，魂赴阴曹，却记忆犹新报仇雪恨。过何如桥之际颠覆孟婆汤，纵身跳入循环的未知。今世正值文革骚乱，芭蕾舞团的俊彦单玉莲（王祖贤饰）惨遭团长强横，下放农村造鞋厂。一心只求安好生活，却频频被宿命熬煎的不幸女子必定了平生的流浪失所。由本地辗转香江，生射中前后出现的3个汉子武龙（林俊贤饰）、武汝大（曾志伟饰）、Simon（单立文饰）似乎都只是宿世的梦影。凄苦命运能否仍要重演，身处现代的飘零女子能否仍将走上千年前的老路？所谓的报仇雪恨能否真能如愿？爱恨交织的不了情又将何去何从？
　　
　　1989年上映，改编自香江名笔李碧华的同名小说的《潘金莲之宿世今》在谨慎延续了该作妖艳诡异又不乏深邃锋利气概的同时，不成避免加入了港片诸多贸易元素。但在重视文娱性的同时，也将焦点放在了对人性以及女性细致心理的摸索上。镜头说话丰富，画面亦幻亦真，两个分歧时空的影象交织，使信息的转达更富感性色彩。值得一看。
