简　　介

　　乔纳森·丹普希是一个贫苦失意的动物学家，多年以来，他都苦无证据证实传闻中的尼斯水怪只是一个蜚语蜚语。因此，他前往苏格兰的尼斯湖作实地观察。到了当地后，他发现之前的一位观察者由于前往湖心旁观，而死于相当怪异的缘由。因此，他决议在一个乡下小酒店住下，作持久的钻研。在停止观察的日子中，他慢慢与酒店老板娘劳拉坠入情网。他持久用声纳器扫瞄湖底深处，却毫无功效。正当他预备放弃观察时，劳拉交给他前任观察者所留下来的相机。没想到，正是这么一个小小的相机，为他们解开了尼斯湖之谜。
