◎简　　介

　　GLOBAL公司派遣员工Steve Butler（马特·达蒙 Matt Damon 饰）和Sue Thomason（弗兰西斯·麦克多蒙德 Frances McDormand 饰）到一个以农业为经济支柱却包含丰富自然气资本的小镇，试图压服当地居民和GLOBAL公司合作，一路开采自然气，此举也将复兴当地的经济。Steve本以为这是瓜熟蒂落的工作，却遭到了当地高中的一位教科学的教员Frank（哈尔·霍尔布鲁克 Hal Holbrook 饰）的否决，Frank提出要全部镇上的人停止投票，以决议能否起头自然气的开采。而一位来自环保构造“雅典娜”的年轻人Dustin Noble（约翰·卡拉辛斯基 John Krasinski 饰）的忽然出现，他以自己故乡由于开采石油气而遭到破坏为证据，加倍剧了当地群众对开采自然气的抵牾。Steve在当地熟悉的一位很有好感的女性Alice（罗丝玛丽·德薇特 Rosemarie DeWitt 饰）似乎也对他落空了信赖。Steve能否顺遂完成公司的使命？
