◎简　　介

　　美国林肯总统以束缚黑奴的功业留名青史，但约翰．福特导演的这部林肯列传片却将剧情焦点放在律师时代的年轻林肯身上。他刚在伊利诺州进入社会工作时，对自己的前途并无定见，已经在女友的坟前冷静祈祷，渴望获得指引。后来决议进入法令界，接手了一些辩解的案子，但没有遭到重视。直至他卷入了朋友的两个儿子被控谋杀的案子中，林肯办案的聪明和勇敢才遭到注视，今后一步登天。本片采用松散的片厂建造方式来突显其舞台化剧力，崭露头角的小生亨利．方达将仆人翁的精神和蔼概刻画得入木三分，是与《浊世才子》同年面世的一批好莱坞佳作之一。
