　　赞恩（查理·辛 Charlie Sheen 饰）本性忸怩又不善寒暄，一心扑在奇迹上的他是一位外太空文化发热友。一次偶然中，赞恩接收到了一个奥秘的信号，按照多年的研讨经历，赞恩立即就发现，这个信号的发送者是外星人。兴奋的赞恩将收集到的情报报告给了下属，可是下属并不相信常日里看似疯疯癫癫的赞恩。无法之下，赞恩决议自己展开观察。
　　追随着信号波，赞恩来到了墨西哥的郊外，在那边，他结识了名为伊莲娜（林赛·克洛斯 Lindsay Crouse 饰）的女科学家，两人携手作战，很快就发现了一个惊人的消息——信号的发射地并非外星，而是地球内部，也就是说，在地球上，生在世伪装成为人类的外星人，它们的目标只要一个，那就是经过改变天气使人类衰亡。
