　　20世纪初，中国湘西偏僻山村，一顶花轿千里迢迢向杨家坳走来。肩舆中的女孩名叫萧萧（娜仁花 饰），对于这个只要12岁的女孩来说，成婚更像是一场热烈、好玩的游戏。婚后，萧萧承当起洗衣做饭的家务，还要带着比自己小很多岁的丈夫玩。转眼六年时光曩昔，萧萧已经长大为睥睨神飞的大姑娘。婆婆为她缠上裹胸部，却没法盖住她对内部天下的猎奇与向往。偶然机遇，萧萧与长工花狗萌生恋爱，但在这个封锁的山村，期待他们的必定是一场悲剧……
　　本片按照沈从文的原著小说《萧萧》改编，并荣获1988年法国蒙彼利埃国际电影节金熊猫奖、1988年西班牙圣赛巴斯蒂安国际电影节堂吉诃德奖。
