　　安妮（蓓蒂·赫顿 Betty Hutton 饰）是本性情大大咧咧的假小子，在一场射击角逐中她夺得头筹，因而受邀加入了《狂野西部》的表演队伍中，在这里，安妮相逢了名为弗兰克（霍华德·基尔 Howard Keel 饰）的男人，随着时候的推移，安妮渐渐的爱上了弗兰克。但是，弗兰克喜好的是那种长发穿裙子极富女人味的范例，安妮的形象和本性明显和弗兰克的理想型各走各路。
　　
　　当安妮在表演中一炮而红后，妒忌心驱使弗兰克分开了《狂野西部》表演组，加入了他们的对头《波尼印第安人比尔秀》。在后者的挤兑之下，《狂野西部》损失了很多人气，面临停业的命运。
