　　美国洛杉矶发生了一桩命案，罪犯在现场留下一张签名为“否决美德和常态的人”的名片，侦察乔·弗赖戴和斯特雷贝克负责观察此案。按照把握的线索，他们将马兹抓获，从其口中得知是西泽将他安插在一个叫PAGAN的构造中。在该构造举行的一次奥秘集会上，一个头戴面具的牧师将一个穿着成婚号衣的童贞看成祭品推入了有蟒蛇的水池，弗赖戴和斯特雷贝克将她救了出来。这个叫康尼的女子是被“消灭恶习和罪行的十字军”魁首、牧师乔纳森·沃利绑架来的。弗赖戴将沃利抓了起来，但脾性急躁的女警长柯克帕特里克对此大为光火，她号令弗赖戴将沃利开释，还让他交出了警徽。马兹捉住了弗赖戴和康尼，斯特雷贝克将他们救了出来。沃利诡计杀死西泽、市长和柯克帕特里特，他的诡计被弗赖戴和斯特雷贝克所破坏。为了逃窜，沃利将康尼看成人质，但弗赖戴又一次使他的快意算盘落了空，并终极赢得了康尼的芳心。
