　　片名“stop-loss”（止损）原本是金融外汇范畴常见的词语，大致指投资失误时想法把损失限制在较小范围内的一种行为。越战以后这个词被美国政府加以操纵，“stop-loss procedure”（止损法式）是指军方在其认定的告急情况下，逼迫已经实行终了退役时代的使命大概有条件退休的兵士耽误退役时候的一种行为。按照一项估量，这一备受争议的政策使得大要有7000名原定可以返国的美军兵士被迫滞留在伊拉克。
　　片中由莱恩·菲利普饰演的布兰登·金中士带着声誉回到了故乡小城并筹算重建自己的生活，可是军方在止损法式下强行要求他立即回到伊拉克继续退役，不得已之下布兰登起头了亡命天涯的旅程，回避一个他原本不惜生命去庇护的国家的所谓“正义”。
